COURSE PURPOSE
Build the baseline AI vocabulary, judgment and professional confidence required to use AI without confusing fluency with reliability. The course is intentionally nontechnical and grounded in day-to-day professional decisions.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Differentiate predictive analytics, machine learning, generative AI, natural-language processing, computer vision and AI agents, and match each method to appropriate professional tasks.
Screen a proposed AI use case using a practical value-risk-fit checklist that considers decision criticality, data sensitivity, worker impact and required human oversight.
Construct and refine prompts for risk, safety, health and ergonomics tasks using clear context, constraints, source requirements and structured output formats.
Verify AI-generated outputs against evidence, professional standards and domain knowledge, while identifying hallucination, omission, bias, uncertainty and automation-bias risks.
Complete an individual AI competency profile, prioritize near-term use cases and produce a 90-day responsible adoption plan for the learner or organization.

Learners should not upload identifiable health records, confidential incident information, employee data, intellectual property or regulated information into unauthorized public AI tools. Labs should use synthetic, public or properly de-identified data.
